Saturday webinar - Photographing Flowers for Transparency with Harold Davis
July 26th, DI members free

Harold Davis shows his stunning floral imagery and explains his process for light box photography, including botanical composition, exposure, and post-production.

Harold says: “Light box photography is a joy, and a great form of photography to practise at home with relatively minimal investment in equipment. It also teaches techniques – such as exposure and composition – and will enrich all aspects of your photographic practice.”

He is an award-winning artist and photographer, book author and educator, who is also renowned for his monochrome work.

Saturday Webinar - The Colour of Water with Tony Sweet
August 30th, DI members free

This presentation is the result of a 30-year project photographing reflections in water: e.g. flowing or still water, shimmering water, “blue spikes,” rocky streams.

There are numerous examples illustrating reflections made throughout the year, in all four seasons. The effect of various lengths of exposure, and how exposure time can sculpt an image, will be illustrated by "before and after" images. Tony will also discuss and illustrate the where, when, and how to create images with the greatest visual impact.

Tony Sweet is an author and educator, and comes from an artistic background as a professional jazz artist and professional close-up magician, to professional nature/ fine art photographer; he has always sought creative, deeply personal endeavours.

RPS Landscape Group open air exhibition
See the work of one of our fellow Groups

The RPS Landscape Group is holding its second outdoor exhibition of members’ work across 8+ locations in 2025/26 with 80 landscape images in a run of almost 30 metres: Land & Sea, Urban & Rural, Colour & Mono. This is another excellent opportunity to show a range of members’ photos to a broader audience; not just those who planned to visit, but we see the serendipity of thousands of passers-by stopping to spend time looking at our images.

Our exhibition schedule for 2025/26 is listed here, with more dates to be confirmed. All locations are outdoors - open 24/7. Video on YouTube ↗.

First 3 locations:

  • 17 May – 8 June: Southwark Cathedral
  • 21 June - 13 July 2025: Central Library, Bristol
  • 2 - 18 August 2025: Bridge Field, Rushcliffe (Trent Bridge, Nottingham)
