11-12 October 2025
A mix of inspiring speakers and activities has been brought together to mark the 55th anniversary of the formation of the RPS Travel Group. At a time when journeying to ‘off the beaten track’ places was much less easy than it is now, one of the Group’s primary purposes was to enable travel to unusual destinations. We do that much more independently now and perhaps put more emphasis on sharing the stories of our travels.
This weekend brings together a range of speakers and skills that will help each of us move forward on our photographic journey and have fun following our chosen paths. The speakers are Ash Bhardwaj, Peter Brisley, Nat Coalson, Sue O'Connell, Leigh Preston, Chris Roche and Dr. Lindsay Stringer.

Janey Devine FRPS
A firm believer in the value of projects, for the last five years Janey has been working on a long term documentary project looking at some of the important issues affecting our city centres today. She describes some of the twists and turns and explains the reason behind the key decisions that have shaped the development of the project. Janey will also aim to show how similar approaches can be used in Travel photography.
Nat Coalson ARPS describes the criteria by which he assesses Travel Photography and explains the awards he has made for 2025.
He also announces the 'Best of the Best' from the 2024 monthly winners.
Congratulations to all!!
Monday 16th June 2025 - 5 nights
This is a hybrid trip with some organised elements, lots of suggestions for photographic routes and ample opportunity to explore the two cities - Belfast and Derry - by yourself.
The trip is limited to eight Travel Group Members and will be based in the centre of Belfast.
This RPS Travel Group Trip will include a pre and post trip zoom meeting.
The itinerary has been planned by Patricia Mackey ARPS, our Travel Log editor, who lives in Northern Ireland and was awarded her ARPS with photographs taken locally.
An informal gathering of members of the Travel Group and, often, participants from beyond the Group to share travellers' tales and images.
These sessions depend very much on Group member involvement. They are not recorded.
This is a really good way to put names to faces and become more engaged with the Group, so do log-in.
If you can offer an item for a future gathering, please contact David Short (travelevents@rps.org)
